Technical lamps and decorative lamps have different purposes and functions. What exactly is their difference, we will try to clarify below. But to begin with, it is worth mentioning that the lines between both types of lamps are getting thinner and both can serve two purposes.
Specifically, technical lamps are designed and intended primarily to provide light for lighting purposes.
They are used to illuminate spaces, such as homes, offices, industrial facilities, shopping centers, stadiums and the like. They usually have high luminous efficiency, which means they generate light using minimal energy.
Also, they can have different characteristics such as adaptability in terms of light intensity, directionality of light or the ability to adjust the color of light.
On the other hand, decorative lamps are intended primarily for aesthetic purposes and to add a visual effect in space.
They are used to create a cozy atmosphere, emphasize design or accentuate certain elements in space. They often have a unique and attractive appearance, and can be made of different materials, such as glass, crystal, metal or plastic.
In addition, decorative lamps often have lower luminous efficiency compared to technical lamps, as they focus on the aesthetic aspect instead of pure functionality.
It is worth noting that some lamps can be used both for technical and decorative purposes, depending on the design and method of use.
For example, chandeliers can provide basic lighting in space, but at the same time they also have a decorative purpose due to their aesthetics. Ultimately, the difference between technical and decorative lamps lies in the primary purpose and accents they bring in space.
A perfect example of one such is the Rustical chandelier that the Corda project company produced for the Retreat villa in Vinišće.
