Koykan and Corda Lighting: A story about light and the experience of space

In the interior of a restaurant, every decision is important, and lighting often proves to be crucial. It is not just a technical solution, but an element that shapes the atmosphere, determines the rhythm of the space, and emphasizes the very essence of the experience, food, and togetherness around the table. In the newly opened Koykan restaurant in the Supernova shopping center in Zadar, our lighting is part of the ‘tool’ whose task is to achieve this. We are proud to have been given the trust and opportunity to participate in creating an environment that combines a modern gastronomic concept and a carefully designed space.

Koykan and the power of designer lighting in interiors

For this project, we created specific ceiling lamps that dominate the central part of the restaurant. These are circular light panels that act like architectural discs, pure geometric forms that float under the wooden ceiling grid. Their role is not only functional, but also spatial: they create a sense of rhythm, visually organize the space, and give it a contemporary character. This approach to lighting contributes to a sense of comfort, but also emphasizes the presentation of food, which, under the right light, comes to its full expression.

The design of a lamp in such spaces is never neutral. The shape, proportion, and the way the light falls on the tables directly affect the feeling of comfort and the length of the guest’s stay. When light is harmoniously connected to the architecture and interior, it imperceptibly guides the experience of the space. In this way, it creates an atmosphere in which one wants to stay and return. It is precisely on this track that we can boast that we have several projects in hotels, restaurants, and private interiors behind us. And each time our emphasis has been on personalized design and impeccable execution.

How lighting shapes the guest experience in a restaurant

Quality lighting in restaurants is therefore not a matter of luxury, but a necessity. Namely, it allows the colors and textures of food to appear natural, the atmosphere to be intimate yet dynamic, and guests to feel welcome and relaxed.

Lighting design, when carefully considered, elevates the overall experience and gives a space its identity. In Zadar, we achieved this with a solution that is as discreet as it is recognizable, confirming that good lighting always works for the benefit of what matters most – the guest experience.
